Eamonn Callan is Professor of Philosophy of Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. His major research interest is that of moral and political education within liberal democratic societies. He is the author of two books, the latest entitled Creating Citizens: Political Education and Liberal Democracy (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1997), and has recently contributed articles to Philosophy, the American Journal of Education, the Journal of Value Inquiry and the Journal of Philosophy of Education.
